What a report includes

Identity & numbers-matching

VIN or chassis number, engine and stamp-pad numbers and trim or cowl tag codes checked against each other and against the claimed year, model and options.

Every fact tagged

ConfirmedClaimedUnknown
You see exactly what's backed by evidence and what rests on the seller's word.

All-in auction comps

Comparable sales normalized to all-in cost, including buyer's premiums, so the numbers mean the same thing.

Value, offer band & walk-away triggers

A fair market value estimate, a sensible offer range and the specific findings that should make you walk away.

How it works

  1. Send the car's details. Type the VIN or chassis, engine and tag numbers yourself, then add the listing link or ad text, the seller's claims and photos.
  2. Pay securely. Paid reports go to secure checkout by Stripe. The free VIN check skips this step.
  3. We research the car. We decode the numbers, cross-check them against your photos and documents, and pull all-in comps.
  4. You get your report. Identity findings, tagged facts, fair market value, an offer band and walk-away triggers.

FAQ

Is this an appraisal?

No. A Chassisworth report is independent research and an opinion of market value. It is not a certified appraisal, a mechanical inspection, a title search or a guarantee of authenticity. For insurance, lending, legal or tax purposes you need a certified appraiser.

Which cars do you cover?

Collector cars built before 1981, where VIN/chassis formats, stamp pads and trim or cowl tags are the main evidence of identity.

Why do you ask me to type the numbers?

Photos of stampings and tags are easy to misread: characters get worn, painted over, shot at an angle or blurred. Type what you read yourself; we use the photos to cross-check.

What does Confirmed / Claimed / Unknown mean?

Confirmed means we checked it against evidence such as decoded numbers, documents or reference data. Claimed means the seller or listing says so but we couldn't verify it. Unknown means there isn't enough information either way.

What are all-in comps?

Auction results are adjusted to what a buyer actually paid, including buyer's premiums and fees, so you're comparing real cost and not just the hammer price.

How do I pay?

After you submit the car's details, paid reports go to secure checkout by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. The free VIN check needs no payment.

Can you read Bring a Trailer or Facebook Marketplace listings?

Some sites, including Bring a Trailer, block automated reading. Paste the listing or ad text into the order form along with the link so nothing gets missed.
